Copyright Infringment Becomes Massive Gov't Target

The Department of Homeland Security has began seizing domain names that infringe on copyright laws, like torrent-finder.com. This is a big turn of how the US Government has approached copyright laws with regard to peer to peer networking. While the first P2P network was taken down years ago, Napster, more P2P file sharing has emerged. With the prevalence and ease of file sharing sites and torrent (small files used to reconstruct the shared files) tracking, it appeared nothing was being done about pirating (illegal file sharing). Founders of widely used "The Pirate Bay" website were found guilty of copyright infringement by Swedish courts and lost appeals to the verdict. The three founders were fined £4.1 million in damages and 4 to 8 months in prison. The Pirate Bay Founders Lose Court Appeal

The  interpretation can be made that heat is beginning to come down on pirating software, music and movies online and its only a matter of time before authorities begin to crack down on end users who pirate software, music and movies.
