Microsoft just released a new video game device called the Kinect that is capable of detecting body movements and applying them in a video game reality. The Microsoft Kinect is new technology that tracks movements of objects and reconstructs them in a 3D virtual reality. Microsoft's gaming system saw great potential in the video game industry, but it didn't stop there. Philipp Robbel combined an iRobot device and the new Microsoft Kinect controller that can recognize gestures. He calls it the KinectBot.

Other users of the Kinect system have been able to use it on computers instead of the XBox 360. Use your imagination to think of potential applications for this system: Controlling robots with your movements of your body just by a three dimensional rendering. Remember the 2002 movie Minority Report with Tom Cruise? The computers were controlled with a gloved hand and gestures to flip screens around. Microsoft is now making this a realiaty. This may be the ground floor of the next generation of technology.
